Our Mission
Here at Taboo Education, we are passionate about motivating our communities to talk about death. It is a topic that affects and will eventually become a concern for every single person across the globe, as it has throughout history.
It never used to be awkward or taboo to talk about death as it is today. A hundred years ago, death was seen for what it is - natural and normal, a part of life to be accepted and not hidden.
Here at Taboo Education, we strive to return to that clear understanding because our communities’ inability to speak openly about death has greatly impaired many aspects of our lives...
Financially, families are crippled every day by the costs of funerals because they are unable to see death for what it is and can, therefore, be taken advantage of.
Environmentally, we are running out of space to bury our dead and the natural gas and wood to cremate them. Some countries already have.
Legally, the rights to our loved ones' bodies, our rights to die where we wish, and in many ways, the right to die at all are left up to politicians.
Socially, schools are expected to take on parenting issues like “the big death talk,” grief and how it presents is widely misunderstood, and only one-third of Australian adults have a valid Will.
And these are just to name a few.
Our death education services are for everyone - it is never too early or too late to start the discussion. Take it one step at a time.
And that is what Taboo Education is here to help you with. Having a purposeful, frank, and often humorous discussion about death.
